Additional fun on the Island
These events highlight a small sample of what the Cape Breton Highlands has to offer
Although The Cape Breton Highlands is a fun place to be all year round, we do have some events that are worthy of note and perhaps you would like to tie in with your package dates. Below are four major events happening in the area. There are always local activities to partake in as well.
Hike the Highlands Festival
This year's festival will run from September 14th to 23rd. There are many guided hikes from St. Anns Bay to Meat Cove, Cape Breton's most northerly tip. Trails are for both new and experienced hikers.

Heart of the Highlands Triathlon
The Heart of the Highlands Triathlon will be held in mid June, and includes sprint and Olympic distances of swimming, biking and running throughout the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
The Celtic Colours International Festival
Celtic Colours is a Cape Breton Island-wide festival with a wide array of events ranging from square dances in intimate community halls to grand concerts at some of the island's larger venues. Each year, over 300 artists from all over the Celtic world, including Scotland, Ireland, the United States, Brittany and Canada perform at over 30 venues around the island. Besides the nightly events, there is a full schedule of workshops that allows the visitor to be an active participant in the Celtic culture.
The festival is held at the height of the island's spectacular fall colours, allowing visitors to enjoy breathtaking scenery as they travel to their next event. Celtic Colours showcases some of the finest Celtic musicians, singers, dancers, storytellers and culture bearers from around the island and around the world. Many of the world's most beloved Celtic artists have performed at the festival, including The Chieftains, Jerry Holland, Buddy MacMaster, Phil Cunningham, Capercaillie, Natalie MacMaster, Danœ, Altan, Sharon Shannon, Sean McGuire, Dougie MacLean, Tommy Makem, Blazin' Fiddles, the Barra MacNeils and many more.
