Cape Breton Vacation Packages

Information for planning your vacation

Cape Breton is an island off mainland Nova Scotia in eastern Canada. In 2004, National Geographic Traveler Magazine recognized Cape Breton Island as the second best sustainable tourist destination in the entire world! Although an Island, Cape Breton is connected to mainland Nova Scotia by the Canso Causeway, making it accessible to visitors by road and railway. You can also fly into Sydney airport, an hour from the Cape Breton Highlands or travel by boat. Cape Breton Island is a world renowned sailing destination, particularly on the Bras d'Or Lakes, an inland sea in the center of Cape Breton.

There are many interesting attractions on Cape Breton including the Fortress of Louisbourg, an 18th century fortress built by the French. Fortress of Louisbourg is the largest historical reconstruction project in North America, and a National historic site. Other attractions to visit include an underground coal mine at the Miners' Museum and the inventions of Alexander Graham Bell at the Bell Museum in Baddeck.

The links above provide additional information about the Cape Breton Highlands, such as the world-famous Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the culture of Cape Breton. Even more information regarding the Cape Breton Highlands can be found at the Northeast Highlands Chamber of Commerce website.
